21.01.2013 - DR. ILIJA STEFANOVIĆ AT KHARKIV NATIONAL UNIVERSITY IN UKRAINE
Dr. Ilija Stefanović visited the Kharkiv National University. From January 21st to February the 1st, 2013 Dr. Ilija Stefanović visited Prof. Igor Denysenko from Department of Physics and Technology of Kharkiv National University, Ukraine, and gave the lecture on «Diagnostics and Modeling of RF Plasmas with Nanoparticles». He visited low temperature plasma laboratories and got acquainted with application oriented research on the Department, especially with bipolar ion source. Beside of that, he was invited to Ukrainian National Institute for Physics and Technology, where he gave a lecture with the title «Stability and Similarity Laws of DC Microdischarges». The Ukrainian colleagues presented him their newest results of their different activities, including the basic research on two stelerators and application oriented, low temperature plasma reactors. Dr. Stefanović's travel to Kharkiv has been supported by Alexander von Humboldt-Stiftung in the frame of institutional partnership between Institut für Experimentalphysik II and Department of Physics and Technology, V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University.

21.11.2012 - VISIT TO UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA, MINNEAPOLIS, USA
From 5th to 10th of November 2012, Dr. Ilija Stefanović has visited University of Minnesota, Department of Mechanical Engineering. During his stay he visited labs of Prof. U. Kortshagen (Si nanoparticle formation form low pressure, low temperature plasma), Prof. S. Girshik (nanoparticle formation form high pressure plasmas), Prof. D. Pui (aerosol production, filtration and separation) and Prof. P. McMurry (theoretical and experimental studies of aerosol systems and aerosol instrumentation).
He also reported about research on nanoparticle polymerization in low temperature RF plasmas in Research Department “Plasmas with Complex Interactions”. The future collaboration on nanoparticle sampling form atmospheric pressure microplasma has been discussed.
The Department of Mechanical Engineering of University of Minnesota is the world top institute for aerosol sampling and instrumentation. Beside of that, there is several plasma techniques developed for production, processing and handling of nanoparticles for industrial applications.

01.10.2012 - VISIT OF DANIEL SCHRÖDER AT THE YORK PLASMA INSTITUTE
From September 23rd to September 26th, 2012, PhD-student Daniel Schröder from project A1 visited the group of Professor Timo Gans at the University of York. His group is investigating the physics of low temperature plasmas at low and high pressures and is resident at the York Plasma Institute.
Within the already well-established cooperation, common experiments in the field of high pressure micro-plasmas for bio-medical applications have been planned. Complementary laser-based diagnostics together with optical emission spectroscopy are used to develop a deeper understanding of the production of reactive species in jet-like discharges and their interaction with biological materials. A return visit is planned for spring 2013.

18.06.2012 - VISIT AT CENTRE FOR NON EQUILIBRIUM PROCESSES IN BELGRADE
From May 3rd to 12th, 2012, Dr. Ilija Stefanovic and PhD student Thomas Kuschel visited their cooperation partners Dr. Dragana Maric and Prof. Zoran Lj. Petrovic at the Centre for Non Equilibrium Processes in Belgrade (Serbia). During this time, the team focused on a model which was developed by Phelps and Petrovic for standard size parallel plate dc discharges (discharge gap d = 1 cm) and modified it for the micro discharges. The model and the experimental results (measured in Bochum) agree very well as shown in the figure.
