19TH INTERNATIONAL SUMMER SCHOOL FOR PLASMA PHYSICS
For the 19th time, the Research Department "Plasmas with Complex Interactions" of the Ruhr-Universität Bochum, in cooperation with the Collaborative Research Center TR 87 and international partners, offers the summer school "Low Temperature Plasma Physics: Basics and Applications". From 04 to 11 October 2014, 100 participants from all over Europe will meet 21 lecturers from 15 nations.
"The aim of the summer school is to bring students together with internationally recognized experts and provide them with a coherent education in plasma physics," explains Prof. Dr. Achim von Keudell, spokesman of the Research Department at RUB.
What are typical parameters for low-temperature plasmas? What are the techniques for pre-treatment and coating of surfaces with atmospheric pressure plasmas? What plasma spectroscopic methods are available? The participants of the summer school will find answers to these and many other questions. The program is peppered with lectures by leading plasma experts. Among others, Anthony Murphy from Lindfield Australia and Peter Bruggeman from the USA will participate.
The summer school is a permanent fixture in the plasma field and is already fully booked. Those who still want to attend now can take a place on the waiting list. As always, there will be a social program for networking in addition to the scientific discussions. Master students in their final year as well as PhD students are welcome. The summer school has been held at the Physikzentrum Bad Honnef.
